Reading books has been essential for me as an entrepreneur. It has helped me to build my businesses in such a way that I can earn money on the internet, with a large part of it being automated. Most entrepreneurs try to figure things out on their own, but if you have to do it all by yourself, it’ll cost you so much more time, money and effort before you’ll be able to build a successful business. Therefore, I thought I’d share my 8 must-read books that will help build a more profitable business (especially online) – just like they did for me!

Book 1: Crushing It!: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence-and How You Can, Too – Gary Vaynerchuk
Gary Vaynerchuk is the definition is someone who’s crushing it. Every entrepreneur should be checking out his content. Personally, I think he’s like the Kanye West of entrepreneurship. Gary spits so much truth and wisdom about how to build your (online) business in this book, it’s unbelievable.
In Crushing It, Gary dives deep into the entrepreneurial mindset and social media marketing – both necessary in order to grow your business and earn more money online. After reading this book I made some major changes in my business. I went harder than ever before, more strategic than ever before – and I became more profitable than ever before.
There’s nothing more painful than spending your time, money and effort on building your new product (or business) and have no-one buy it on your launch date. Unfortunately, this happens every single day.
Each day, thousands of entrepreneurs release their new product or start their new business. Unfortunately, most of them don’t make a dime on their ‘launch’ date. No one buys their new product. Why? Because they didn’t have a (solid) launch strategy. Don’t be one of them. It’s painful and discouraging.
If you want to learn exactly how to give your new products (or new business) a huge boost in sales starting from day 1 (or even before your product is released), you need to read the book Launch.

Your ability to persuade your prospects or followers to buy your products is key to building a successful business. This doesn’t mean that you trick or scam them – not at all. If your products and services are highly valuable and make the life of your customer better, I believe you have a moral obligation to persuade people into buying your products.
Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini will help you to do so. In this book, you’ll discover certain tactics (based on psychology) that will help you enormously with getting your audience from A to B.
Ps. Not only can you use these principles for making more sales, but also for things like public speaking and socializing! You’ll learn how to improve your likeability, how people will trust you more and how to build better relationships with others.
Book 4: The Ultimate Sales Letter – Dan Kennedy
Your products are not going to sell itself. You’ll have to write an attractive sales page for each of your products so that your prospects will be convinced to buy. This is extremely important! When your sales page sucks, no one is going to buy your products. Therefore, it’s critical that you dive into the skill of copywriting.
Copywriting is the skill of being able to write persuasively so that you can get a reader to follow your call-to-action. Whether that means buying your product or joining your email list, it doesn’t matter. If you’re able to persuade with your words, you’re able to earn a LOT of money. In fact, I dare to say that copywriting is the #1 skill that has enabled me to earn a full-time living online.
If there’s one guy to teach you copywriting, it’s the legendary copywriter Dan Kennedy. With his book, The Ultimate Sales Letter, he’ll teach you exactly how to write persuasive sales pages that improve your conversion rate, earn you more money and grow your audience.
Book 5: Scientific Advertising – Claude Hopkins
This book is old. Really old. It’s originally written in 1923.. So how could such an old book be relevant for internet entrepreneurs?? Well, because it teaches you exactly how to write persuasively. The principles from this book have been used by many of the greatest marketers alive, and it has earned them a lot of money in the process.
Read this book together with The Ultimate Sales Letter and you’ll be well equipped with strong copywriting that enables you to earn more money.
Book 6: Epic Content Marketing – Joe Pulizzi
What’s the best way to build a relationship with your audience? High-Quality Content.
What’s the best way to build trust, likability and familiarity with your audience? High-Quality Content.
What’s the best way to show your expertise to your audience? High-Quality Content.
In other words, high-quality content is king for your business. If you’re able to produce high-quality videos, blogposts or podcasts, you can really start to build a strong brand that’ll enable you to build a successful business
Think about it.. It’s very likely that the people you’ve bought products from all produce high-quality content that you consume on a regular basis. That’s why you trust them to deliver value to you. It’s one of the fundamentals of selling.
